At a glance
- Adds a new Factorum global encounter and a Prototech generator that refills oxygen and hydrogen faster.
- Adds a Ping Grid action that creates a GPS marker for a player-owned grid's current location.
- Makes storage, retrieval, deployment, Projector controls, stores, contracts, and service feedback clearer.
- Adds free functional blocks while separating more than 50 cosmetic Prosperity Pack blocks into an optional purchase.
Player impact
Survival players gain practical recovery, fueling, farming, building, and economy tools without buying the cosmetic pack. Server owners receive more control over remote retrieval behavior and service rules.
The useful half of Prosperity is free
Prosperity launches beside a paid decorative pack, but the functional update does not require that purchase. Existing owners receive the Factorum encounter, new utility blocks, ship-location tools, Economy 2 changes, Projector improvements, and a modernized space respawn ship.
The new Factorum global encounter sends players after additional Prototech. Its headline reward is the large-grid Prototech O2/H2 Generator, which the official page says can refill fuel and oxygen up to ten times faster while using less power than a standard generator.
Other free blocks include a small-grid Flat Collector, a large-grid Structural Platform Conveyor, airtight Short Stairs, and a Passage 2 Frame. Triangular Grated Catwalks are also added to the older Decorative Pack 2 for players who already own it.
Lost grids get a direct answer
The Info screen now includes a Ping Grid button. It generates a GPS point at one of the player’s grids and keeps that point available until it is removed. The feature applies to ships, rovers, stations, and other owned constructions.
This is deliberately simple, which is why it may be one of the update’s most broadly useful additions. It replaces a search problem with a navigation task and reduces the cost of losing track of a mining ship or temporary platform.
The rebuilt Space Respawn Ship follows the same theme. Key survival systems are easier to identify, giving new and returning players a clearer starting point without changing the sandbox into a guided campaign.
Economy 2 becomes less opaque
Services Terminals now provide clearer reasons when a grid cannot be stored or deployed, including movement, recent damage, or another condition that makes it ineligible. Server owners can control very-long-distance retrieval and make retrieval time depend on distance, allowing servers to choose between convenience and logistics-heavy rules.
Precision Mode can place its marker at the character’s current position, making exact redeployment easier. Repair, salvage, and storage rules also handle hostile attached blocks more carefully so station services cannot as easily bypass hacking or ownership behavior.
Player stores can opt out of Item Search while continuing to operate. Projector directions, sliders, and settings receive consistency work, and several previously restricted settings can be changed at more stages of a build or repair.
What the paid pack does—and does not do
The optional Prosperity Pack adds more than 50 blocks, including cockpit variants, hydrogen tanks, stairs, battery banks, railings, server racks, cable runs, and lights. Keen describes these as cosmetic and decorative blocks that do not affect gameplay balance.
That separation is important for evaluating the release. The stronger generator, recovery tools, functional blocks, economy changes, and encounter belong to the free update; the paid pack expands visual building choices.
What comes next
Keen says the next Space Engineers update is Warfare 3, targeted for November or December 2026. The official preview mentions new weapon types, new combat systems, and more dynamic PvP and ship-to-ship engagements. Those items remain roadmap plans and are not part of Prosperity.
What players should do first
Survival saves benefit immediately from testing Ping Grid and the new generator. Server owners should review remote-retrieval and service settings before players assume the same behavior as a default world. Builders can evaluate the free functional blocks first, then decide whether the separate cosmetic pack fills a real visual need.
