What changed

Desktop Explorer advanced from 1.0.22 to 1.0.46 through six official patches. The latest release fixes a progression softlock at the Tower entrance, a way to become locked out of a desktop by abusing Storyteller+ tags, missing Wormhole access in other desktops after buying The Copper Box, and infinite flags in MineSniffer.

The earlier sequence removes a wide range of progression failures. Version 1.0.29 restores NextRooms interaction, Hall of Mirrors fragments, final-user shortcuts, date sorting for folders with .res files, and protects certain files. Version 1.0.33 repairs puzzle-dependent file softlocks, the Wormhole ship, Maze Screensaver, mural text, Colorlens filtering, and Arcade Store camera drift.

Versions 1.0.36 and 1.0.39 fix a password-folder softlock, raw_ore.img naming, stuck visual glitches, a missing M4x1ne elevator, and multiple NextSocial instances blocking progress. Version 1.0.41 then fixes a post-install softlock, a Chronolog sequence-break softlock, a screensaver activating during a cutscene, and persistent sound or music.

Key changes

Progression and puzzles

  • Tower, Storyteller+, M4x1ne, Chronolog, password-folder, Maze, and NextSocial blockers are repaired.
  • Wormhole, Hall of Mirrors, MineSniffer, and final-user shortcut behavior is corrected.

Files, interface, and presentation

  • Certain file deletion and puzzle-file modification paths are constrained.
  • Date sorting, file properties, naming, camera drift, screensaver timing, sound, and visual effects receive fixes.
  • Localization, stability, and performance work appears across the sequence without full technical detail.

What this means for players

Players who paused because a chapter, puzzle, or desktop became inaccessible should use 1.0.46 rather than an intermediate build. The combined sequence also reduces the chance that file experimentation creates an unrecoverable progression state.

Who is affected

The official notes identify users reaching the named chapters and puzzles, players modifying puzzle-dependent files, and owners of The Copper Box. No platform or save migration limitation is stated.

Rollout and known limitations

The sequence was published July 19 through July 25. Generic stability, localization, and performance lines are not expanded into unlisted fixes.

Editorial context

Steam Update Radar assessment: one combined article is more accurate than six separate posts because 1.0.46 is the latest complete state and the releases address overlapping softlock risks.
